Current Event 2/28/11

Current Event....Knicks vs Heat: Melo and company gelling after 3 games
After 3 games played in New York my expectations of Carmelo Anthony and crew have been proven wrong. 'Melo and fellow teammates have had a solid win over the Bucks, and an even more dramatic win over the arguably the best team in the east right now, the Miami Heat. This big win shadows a loss to the worst team in the NBA right now, the Clevland Cavaliers. In that game, the Knicks were out rebounded and out hustled to the point where they could not fight back to win. This shows that there is still some concern with the players working together but so far they seem to be doing a good job and head coach Mike D'Antoni seems to be calling all the right plays. The real big suprise to the Knicks success is the dark horse in the trade, Chauncey Billups. Billups in three games as a Knick he has a highley impressive stat line with 63 points, 18 assists, and 13 rebounds. He is really giving them a spark at point guard and living up to his name as Mr. Big Shot. In addition to Melo and Billups fitting right in and playing with Amare Stoudemire who still continues to put up MVP calibur numbers, other Knicks are starting to play better feeding of the new "Big 3" in New York. Bill Walker and Shawne Williams are starting to defend and play better on the wing. Also, long time Knick guard Toney Douglas has been contributing with his shot making and his hustle fitting right into playing point with the backups or two guard with the starters. His presence as a shooter now makes him a scoring option making the defense having to guard every player leaving lanes open for Billups and Anthony and if they close in on the lanes they are leaving shooters to beat them with the jumpshot. The team the Knicks have right now are a great group and they can only improve from here on out. Even if you are not a Knick fan you cannot help to be provided entertainment by this team and pleasure in seeing them take down the leauges best.
