MELO TO KNICKS :(

In recent trade discussions, Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets agreed to go to the New York Knicks signing his extension for 3 years, 65 million. The trade sends "Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Nuggets, who would get additional picks and cash," according to ESPN. While being appeared to be situated in New Jersey, the New York Knicks made a strong push to end the NBA All-Star Weekend. At the beging of the week the Nets were ready to send star rookie Derrick Favors and perrnieal point guard Devin Harris in a blackbuster deal that was accepted by the Nuggets waiting only for the signiture of Carmelo Anthony to sign the extension. Later in the week, when both the Knicks and the Nets had met during late friday night and late saturday night repectively, Carmelo seemed to make his choice and by late monday night at around 10 pm eastern time, Carmelo Anthony had become a New York Knick.
My reaction to this would be that as a Net fan i obviously hate the deal because it does not give New Jersey the star power it needs to make a push for the playoff run and eventually have one of the best teams in the long run. I also belive that in New Jersey, Carmelo would benefit from the amount of times the ball is in his hands and the amount of shots he would get being the star caliber player he is. While in New York, 'Melo would be sharing ball time with already star MVP candidate center Amare Stoudemire. My personal opinion is that this wont work because of the times that each player needs the ball in their hands to create and it will take some time before these two work together to flow as a well-oiled machine. From the Nuggets perspecticve this deal may or may not work out for them because of all the bodies they are trading and without a clear focal point they may be out of it for a couple a years. With the Nets willing to give up 4 first-round draft picks, it would have set the Nuggets up perfectly for the future and given them a star bigman in the making with Derrick Favors.
